I saw a Facebook ad for Ting’s Art Quiz and I was intrigued. I was trying to figure out the business side of art at that time! I had no idea how to prioritize, set goals, fit in marketing, all of it! It was all very overwhelming. And I was trying to fit in studio time to create. I felt Overwhelmed, Anxious, and stressed.
Before Ting’s coaching, I tried some venues, but they did not amount to much. I was searching with not much success. Since Ting’s coaching, I feel focused! I had met Ting when she was running her Gallery in Golden and was thrilled when she invited me to her profitable art business Facebook group.
The problem I had in building my art business was relying on people noticing me. I did not have a plan in terms of art production or marketing. I just haphazardly created things occasionally and hoped people would notice and even buy. While I had the skills, I need help with everything else.
Not having the consistency in art-making or the marketing skills I needed to get my work out there felt pretty demoralizing.

I first came across Ting Yuen Art on Facebook. I came across her "What Have You Created This Week" posts. It was an attention grabber for me for two reasons, One, with yellow being my absolute favorite color, the big yellow circle instantly drew my attention. Two, I was instantly drawn to the fact that another artist was selflessly encouraging and supporting other artists. It is a rare thing to find any person who makes an income off of something, building up others in their career who have the same passions- most of the time that are trying to compete with others. That speaks volumes to me and I highly admire that.
I really wanted to build an art business, but I had no clue where to start. I needed direction, but I was looking for baby steps that I could incorporate into my routine, as I am a full time wife, and mother to four children. I didn't doubt that I could build an art business by myself, but I knew that it would take a lot more trial and error as well as time. Before Ting Yuen's art marketing course I felt lost. I was doing what I could but didn't feel like I was getting anywhere. Her course has given me a lot more direction and so much more confidence. It has helped me grow in ways that I never would have given thought to, without her help.

I found Ting from answering a FB Quiz Ad about What Kind of Artists Are You?
At that time, I was trying to turn my love for painting into a business. I had no idea how to price, how to approach my painting with intention, how to market my work, and of course, how to convert people’s love for my art into sales. I found building an art business a daunting task. I didn’t know where to start. I felt clueless and unsteady, like sinking into quicksand. Before Ting’s coaching, I was very random and scattered with my marketing plan. |
Since I started working with Ting, I now have direction and a knowledgeable purpose. My first step was answering Ting’s weekly posts on her Facebook Group daily and doing something each day like stating my goal on Monday and following through by Saturday. This activity helped me to be accountable for my goals.
When I started on this art business journey, what scared me was; Hearing from people that being a professional/paid artist was a pipe dream and finding out that they were right.
Since I started working with Ting, I literally went from painting again for fun and posting on Facebook to friends to selling original paintings, canvas prints, and giclée prints. I also created a website where I sell my art, and people all over the globe see my art. I know things are getting going because complete strangers are buying my work now. I’ve displayed my art in public venues, including 3 shows, 2 galleries, a coffee shop, a library, and an Airbnb. I’ve also done some commissions. My art teaching business is also expanding.
With Ting's program, I have sold art at two in person events where in both instances I sold prints and cards and had inquiries into doing commissions. I just sold my first large canvas print via social media but processed through my website. I am in the process of creating a cohesive collection that I will show in September at a prime spot.
The changes in my art business make me feel like I meant to do what I’m doing and bring joy and beauty to peoples’ homes and lives! I feel like I have more direction in my life. I am able to plan towards a goal, breaking down my big issues into smaller parts. This philosophy works well for my artist brain.
If you are on the fence about working with Ting, do it! Working with Ting will absolutely change your life. If you are willing to put the work in, the reward is there. Ting will give you all the tools you need to become a working artist. And her advice translates into dollars.

I first saw Ting, on my Facebook feed. I wasn't sure about doing the workshop until I checked out her website and saw her artwork and realized we look at life in a similar way. Then I knew she was a perfect choice for me to take my art and idea of a business to the next level.

Ting came through my FB feed, and I became a part of her free FB group, Creating a Profitable. I was on that for a bit and got a lot out of participating in that. When she offered to coach, I knew I was doing this with her immediately.
I was already planning to leave my full-time job to be a full-time artist, however, I was starting from scratch. I was looking for help with getting everything up and running; I really did not know where to even start. I needed someone with experience, knowledge, and wisdom to get into the weeds with me of starting, maintaining, and running my artist business. |
I was both very excited and also nervous. I knew I could no longer work the job I was in, so the dream of being able to be self-employed really kept me inspired and excited!
Before starting working with Ting, I was very naive about what being an artist entrepreneur entails! I did know some things from having been around many artists as an art material retail buyer/manager; however, I can say that I was very ignorant about many, many details that Ting taught me. I was pretty nervous and sometimes doubtful that this would ever happen in my life. I was upbeat, but my confidence was definitely not as high. But I was scared that I would not be able to sell my work. I was also scared that I had no definitive direction, I just knew I had talent and desire, but I was scared of ending up just being an artist as a hobby.
Since working with Ting, first of all, I am much more confident and even more excited than I was then! I am so much more knowledgeable about being an artist full-time and an entrepreneur. I am accomplishing so much now and feel like I have goals, accountability, all of the Modules to keep reviewing and learning from, support from Ting and the other participants, and so much more. Most importantly, I no longer question whether or not I can make this dream happen in my life. It is happening because of my working with Ting. I am pretty much on fire!
The first step I did was to quit my full-time retail job. Since I started the program with Ting, I have built my website from scratch on Squarespace, using your How To Build Your Website From Scratch guide as my primary support for this. I have identified my Target Audience and main art genre, and I have classified my work into various series. I have found out what I need to do to set up my Doing Business As and my business bank account, and have organized all of my business receipts for tax purposes.
I have sold a few prints of my work and an original canvas and priced these according to your Module on pricing our work. I have taught two classes in Intuitive Painting and have two more scheduled for August, and a “next level” class scheduled for September. I have done SEO research on the words that my followers and customers use to describe my work. I have understood much more about the importance of my IG and FB art pages, the short videos that I post on my art process, and the importance of being consistent and professional. I have created business cards on Vistaprint with all of my information and with my actual art on the cards. I’ve participated in a group of artist women who are learning from you also, and we are all supporting each other, which is truly invaluable.
Now, I work for myself; I direct my own day, and I take time for self-care, travel, and regular walking for my health. I now live in the present and enjoy every moment instead of living as though I am waiting for my real life, the life of my dreams, to start. I am so much happier, and content and at peace, and people tell me this is expressed in my art.

The result that I have seen since enrolling in Ting’s program is that Eddie's art is more organized (into series now), we know that we need to schedule his work and when time is not sufficient that we need to work on other small aspects of his business such as building a subscriber list, and social media posts.
I have also learned how to speak to visitors to his art booth at in-person shows and how to prepare for these shows. Ting has shared her methods for getting more subscribers to our newsletters, and how to price and package items for sale. We also learned to offer art at different price points and this yielded good results as we got sales from the different sized artwork (which had different price points) and also offered different art products such as notecards which were popular.

I first hear about Ting from a google search.
I was looking to solve the problem of finding customers and selling my art. I was frustrated that I put a lot of work into my painting, and they didn't sell well. Before Be a Thriving Artist Academy program, I have no idea how the whole art of creating, marketing, and managing business works. After the program, I have a clear vision of planning, executing, and marketing my art business. My first step is to start making a cohesive painting series. What scares the most is finding a theme of painting that will attract buyers. |

I first heard about Ting and her course 'Build Your Art Business' on Facebook. She seemed so friendly and professional, so when I looked her up and read into the course, I enlisted right away.
I wanted to get on the right track with my art business and had plenty of questions about marketing, structuring the business, and finding the right market. The challenge of doing it on my own with not much experience in the art industry started becoming overwhelming, so I knew I needed the right guidance from someone who has the knowledge and experience. And that's where she stepped in! Before I joined her course, I was trying to make it work the best I could, but I wasn't getting anywhere. My first step was to enroll on the course and make plenty of notes as I went along, revising everything I learned. When I had question, the weekly Q&As were really helpful! I wasn't sure of how to reach/engage with more art lovers, but she guided me all the way. I knew nothing about owning an art business or how to sell my art. I thought Ting's coaching course would help me.

I found Ting through her Facebook group and joined it several years ago. I became aware of her coaching and programs through that.
I needed some help to get started. I knew I wanted to have an art business and that I needed to build a collection, but I felt a lot of the advice online was really generic. I needed a little more direction. That challenge made me feel lost, overwhelmed, and frustrated because everything seemed just outside of reach. Before I started Art Collection 101, my motivation was starting to disappear and I was frustrated with my lack of progress even though I was making an effort. It was a scattered effort, though, so I was trying to make progress in so many areas that I wasn't really moving forward. |

After the program, my art has more direction and purpose. I have mapped out my next few art projects and gathered the supplies to start the execution phase. I started my first two paintings in a series of small works I want to use to start showing my work and started preparing to do a couple of larger pieces.
