Why I crafted the Create Your Artist's Introduction Line
According to Forbes, we have seven seconds to make our first impression. This means you must immediately create a rapport and exude confidence and trustworthiness in 7 seconds. The art of making the first impression goes beyond your look, the way you dress, your tone of voice, and the way you carry yourself. It also has a lot to do with what you say.
Now, you are probably scratching your head, thinking, “Well, what does this have to do with art?” A lot! Yep, imagine if you were at an art show or a gallery interview. How do you talk about your art? Do you trip over your tongue, not knowing what to say, or do you just go silent and bomb the interview or the show?
Here Is Why I Created An Artist Introduction Line. When I first opened my art gallery, my heart was pounding hard and filled with nervous energy. I remember the anticipation as I switched on my Open sign, waiting for customers to arrive.
The moment a customer finally showed up, I was at a loss for words. By then, I had already sold my art at art shows. But the experience of shows vs a gallery setting threw me off. It was different because, at shows, I was only a few feet away from my customers, but in my gallery, we were at least 10 feet away. The stark difference made me feel uneasy, and I didn’t know how to reach out to them in an authentic way that didn’t sound like I was screaming across the room at them about my art.
That evening, I was deeply troubled by my unsuccessful day. But this distress was soon replaced by a wave of relief and empowerment as I crafted an Introduction Line that encapsulated my art mission. This tool, my descriptive line, became a powerful way to introduce my art concisely and effectively in less than 7 seconds, a solution I could use everywhere I showcase my art, at shows, or in the gallery.
Since then, I’ve used my Introduction Line everywhere. It didn’t matter where I was because my descriptive line was a versatile bridge connecting me to my customers. Having an effective line boosts my confidence as an artist entrepreneur.
Now, let me help you to do just that! I’ve developed a simple and enjoyable practice for you. I want you to create a descriptive line for your art that quickly expresses what you do and what your art is about. Remember, your first impression is crucial.
Once you have the Introduction Line, you’re already on your way to making a lasting impact. This line is your tool, your power, your control over the impression you make.
In the guide, I will share my introduction lines with you so that you can see how it works. I will also guide you to create your descriptive statements so that you can introduce your art concisely and effectively in less than 7 seconds, helping you to make the best impression for your art.
