You know, there is one thing I dislike, and that is when businesses use their social media as their websites. If you are an artist without a website. "You are missing a massive part of the puzzle!" If you are a business that sells products or services, you need a website to survive. If you don't have a gallery and don't do art shows, your only way to make money is through your website. As you know by now, you shouldn't use other platforms to host your work; if you haven't read that yet, click here. Listen, social media is excellent; it transforms how we can reach out to our customers. As you know, most people under 70 are on SM nowadays. My dad, who is 91 is on SM, he is not good with it, but he knows it's about entertainment and socializing. Social Media Does Not Sell Art.
Don't be mistaken that social media is the only thing you need for your business because it is so not. Depending on your social media platform to sell your art is far worse than building your website on borrowed platforms. When the SM platform has a glitch and loses its traction, or your page has been hacked you also lose your followers. The algorithm, like other platforms, controls your reach. So no matter what you do other than following the algorithm madness, you will always be behind. You will always be working on other people's rules. Remember Vine, Myspace, and ItunesPing; I'm sure you get the message; they are obsolete. So imagine if you have built an audience there; when those platforms disappear, so do your fans. Plus SM, does not tell me what you are about straightforwardly; it brings me to a mélange of information, and then I have to piece them together. And worst of all, it's so distracting that I don't even remember why I went there in the first place. The next thing I know, I'm on someone else's feed looking at puppies! No matter how you feel about Social media, it is not a website!! The people that follow you don't belong to you; they belong to the SM Platform. But if you have a website, you can invite them to sign up for your lead magnet or newsletter, and from there you can nurture them to become customers. To own a Successful Art Business You Need a Website Unlike your social media platform, your website is yours; you own that piece of real estate. Your website is where you house your products, including your social media. When your potential customers enter your website, you can have them take action, for example, sign up for your newsletter or art class or purchase some artwork. They can also learn more about you, your art mission, and your brand. Where do you send people on your social media if you don't have a website? See what I mean? It doesn't have the same leverage. Your website is much easier to rank on Google Search. You need to make your social media a gateway to your website, which means whenever you post content, send them to your website to look at your art or read your blog. Having traffic to your website makes you rank easier on Google. If you build a website correctly with the right keywords, links, and descriptions, you will be able to boost SEO so that people can find you online. Listen, a website is a must if you want to build a successful business. A website shows credibility. You can brand yourself and sell your work. Without a website, you are just another artist that entertains your followers for fun on Instagram or TikTok. I know you don't want to spend your energy engaging your followers and not getting paid. Right? Well, it's time to build your website for just $27; you can't go wrong. Click here to learn more. Testimonial "The guide was very helpful. I made sure my home page was above the fold, like you said, and created sections of landscapes, seascapes and animals into each product category. Your advice was straight forward and easy to follow. I’m so glad I made these changes which helped support my biggest sale so far." Ms. Ross With Creative Joy, Ting
