Artists have a quench for learning new things; we absorb it like a sponge. But some of us lack the drive to implement our knowledge. Hi, if we haven’t met yet, I am Ting, an artist, and art business coach; I help artists of all levels market their art and grow their business to live a creative life with time and money freedom. I have been selling my art for 20 years in various galleries and venues. For the past 13 years, My husband, Paul, and I have operated our award-winning gallery. The Implementers There are so many talented artists. Some are doing remarkably well, and some are at a standstill. Both groups are equally skilled, but the movers and shakers are the implementers. Some of these high performers are members of my FB Group. I have noticed that creative people who take the initiative weekly create and sell consistently. They are addicted to learning like everyone else, but they know the way to move the needle in their business is to take action.
Fearful Serial Learners The group that is serial learners but not implementers lack the drive because they let fear stop them from moving forward. Some of them suffer from perfectionist syndrome, and some are just afraid to self-trust. Now, I don’t want to put you on the spot, but it is out of love. If you are a serial learner and non-doer, You have to realize that nothing happens if you don’t take the initiative. You can’t turn your talent into a business if you are unwilling to take your first step. My Advice And if you want to own a successful art business one day, you will have to put your marketing knowledge to use. I want to encourage you to work towards your art business by doing consistent daily action. Here’s the thing: no one will judge you as much as you self-judge. So what if you failed? I wouldn’t call it a failure; if you don’t give up. I much rather you start in baby steps than not begin. If anyone would laugh or make fun of you, you know those are the naysayers; ignore them. It does take a little courage, but the fear is mainly in your mind. Put your blinders on and stay on your path. Remember, no business starts as a massive success unless you are a celebrity and have a vast entourage of worker bees supporting you. Right now, you are a solopreneur, and that’s o.k. It gives you time to build your empire slowly, never to be overwhelmed. A new venture is always a little scary but you got to start somewhere. I didn’t know much about business when I started but I stuck to it and implement, learn and tweak. If I can do it so can you. If you’ve been with me long enough and have been consuming my content, the knowledge I have shared is enough to get you started; all you need to do is implement it. If you don’t know where to start, How about doing your artist biography or creating your yearly art collection? If you need ideas on actionable tasks, I have created a guide of 31 tasks that I only offer to my FB Group members. Come and join the group and get weekly motivation to keep your business moving in the right direction. Click here to join. With Creative Joy, Ting
