Do you know one of the most important things about operating a business? You will be surprised with my answer because it is so simple: Connection and Gratitude. Yes, I am not talking about building your email list, website, or anything challenging to accomplish. Simply just saying thank you and connecting with your customers. It may sound so simple, but most business owners do not take the time to invest in their clients. My Business Practice that Creates Sustainability
Throughout the 13 years, I had my gallery, I have sold much work over thousands of prints and hundreds of paintings. I created a sustainable and profitable business because I invested time to get to know my customers and formed friendships along the way. I never forget a face, and I send out personalized emails, regular newsletters, and most importantly, snail mails to remind them that they are in my thoughts. It Is Not Just About the Sales Artists, business is about connection; it is not just about the sales, quite the contrary. Just think, before you make the sale, what is it that you are doing? Yes, you are selling, but what is the easiest way to get someone to buy from you? The best way is to give them information and make that connection through sincere, friendly communication. Reach Out and Connect I know my customers well and often know what they are doing in their lives. As a matter of fact, my initial customers who purchased from me are still in contact with me, and they regularly support my business. That is how memorable a genuine brand can do for your business; it builds lasting relationships. It is human decency to be grateful for what you receive. You just have to reach out and let your customers know that you are so thankful for their purchase or just being a great supporter; your gratitude will go a long way. Start Today So if you haven't sent out those "thank you" or "thinking of you" cards, it is time to do so. Put that on your calendar next week, write down the customers' names, and do one or two every day. By the time Xmas rolls around, they will all be done. Most importantly, get to know your customers, make lasting friendships with mutual benefits. Connections are critical to your business. It is not just about selling to them; it is about caring, getting to know them, building and maintaining relationships. P/S: Do you know how to package your art for shipping?
