Hi Artist, No matter how lovely your art is, it doesn't sell itself. Talent is not everything; as a matter of fact, it is just 25% vital to owning an art business that you love. I am sorry to tell you this but talent is not enough. All artists, including me, would love to create art all day long, but what happens when your studio is filling up to the brim with artwork that hasn't sold. Uh Oh! Well, that poses a problem, doesn't it? How will you let your talent support you if you don't sell? I am talking about making enough sales to afford a comfortable living, with a lovely home and vacations to boot. I know none of us wants to own an art business and become the myth of a starving artist. Here are a few reasons why your art is not selling
Owning an art business is different because you are the maker, the marketer, and the seller. These three aspects have to be in sync to have the perfect combination to create a sustainable and profitable art business. If one of them is off, which is where you are now, your dream will remain just that. But I am here to remind you that dream can come true because it happened to me. Here is a little bit about me: If you haven't met me yet, my name is Ting, I've been an artist full time for the past 17 years, and 13 of those years, my business and life partner, Paul, and I operated an award-winning gallery. When I was first starting out, I only knew how to create artwork, and I had no clue about art marketing or selling. But I learned very quickly that if I don't know how to sell my art, I will not survive. Oh man, it was a challenging beginning, but we rolled up our sleeves and worked hard. Being front-of-house, I have learned so much about creating a sellable art collection, art marketing, selling, and launching. While I was operating the gallery, many artists wanted to know how I did it, and they inspired me to coach creatives on how to do this with a step-by-step framework. I am happy to say I will soon be sharing a roadmap of my 20 years of experience to share with artists that desire to build a profitable art business. If you have any questions about making your art into a business that you will be proud of, please drop me a comment below, or email me and we shall chat. _______________________________________________________________________________ If you don't know where you stand, I have created a workbook with 15 queries to help you put things in perspective.
