Hi artists, When I started marketing my art business, crafting a single newsletter or post was daunting, often taking a week to a month.
Most of the time, when I sat down to write, I felt overwhelmed by my lack of ideas, which rattled me, causing me to procrastinate and eventually give up on the plan.😛 Does that sound familiar? 🙃

Don't paint what you think you are supposed to paint; instead, paint what you love to paint, the subjects that came from your soul. This is the key to success. Enjoy the process of creating what you love, don't be afraid to be unique and different; it will set you apart and bring you success" Ting
Artist, As creatives, we have no shortage of ideas, but having ideas is not enough. Some ideas are flops; these 'flop ideas' need more substance or inspiration to follow through. They're often dull in composition or need a clear message. I had a closet full of them; they didn't make the cut. "Start by reflecting on your passions, exploring new opportunities, and taking small steps towards your goals. Remember, the journey to self-fulfillment and empowerment begins with a single step. Take that step today and live a life that truly fulfills you."
Hi artist, Unfortunately, making art is so darn fun that we think it's not a real job because a career should be laborious, painful, uncreative, and boring. For some reason, society has embedded in our brains that a job should not be enjoyable. We are all supposed to suffer when we make money. It's strange how we relate money with pain. The New Way of Thinking: But what if our most meaningful work is meant to be joyful, fun, and empowering? Imagine a journey that fills us with purpose and excitement, a path we eagerly tread daily. "My journey took an unexpected turn when I entered Fashion Design School. While I excelled in fashion illustrations and understanding fashion principles, I stumbled in sewing. I needed more than my community course to become a skilled sewer. I found myself ruining more clothes than I could create, and my instructors were understandably shaking in their boots whenever I approached a new outfit. 🤣."
Hi, artist, Have you ever had a turning point in your life where your failure became a Win? I had one major one and here is my story. My big sis's fashion magazines ignited my passion for fashion design in my early years as I filled my journals with sketches of the latest trends. Moving to England only fueled this passion, as high fashion was ever-present. As a young adolescent, I constantly sketched in my sketchbook, each page a testament to my love for clothes and trends. My galleries are filled with countless memories, and not just the red dots on my original artwork make the experience worthwhile. What truly stands out are the unique and genuinely heartwarming connections I've formed with my clients.
Hello, It’s been a while since I introduced myself to my fellow artists. My name is Ting; I’ve been an artist and gallerist for 24 years. Before Covid and the pandemic, I operated my award-winning galleries in British Columbia, Canada. I enjoyed having my gallery tremendously because having a live audience consistently is a pleasure. I also got to greet and chat with my clients personally. One of the most rewarding aspects of my work was witnessing my audience engage with my art and connect with me. My art, which often tells stories of love, dreams, and aspirations, bridges my inner core. Through these stories, I've forged deep connections with my audience. I often receive inquiries about creating prints with your art, a path that holds significant financial potential. And you’re right; it does.
Over my 14-year journey in the print world, I’ve personally sold hundreds of thousands of prints, a feat that has been a critical driver of my financial success. This is a testament to the potential that awaits you in the world of art prints. Before I ventured into selling prints, my life was a whirlwind of creating original artwork throughout the year, a necessity if you want to be a profitable artist. However, when I opened my art gallery, I realized I couldn’t spend all my days in the studio. If I were to sell only original paintings, I would need to create one hundred paintings at $1,000 each to bring in a six-figure business. While this may sound fun, it's not a feasible or desirable way to spend your entire year. Three recessions, six forest fires, one inflation, and one pandemic are just some of the challenges that have impacted my 23 years in business—and I'm still here! How did I do it? Implementing strategic cost-cutting measures, diversifying my product offerings, and maintaining strong customer relationships.
Hey, artist, completing a collection is just the beginning of a marathon in the art business. The real fun begins when you start nurturing the longevity of your enterprise. As the boss of your business, you can decide how, where, and when you operate and how much you want to earn from your art. This is where strategic planning comes into play, as it helps you understand the long-term implications of your decisions. If you aspire to build a business that stands the test of time, like mine, you must focus on creating a profitable and sustainable business. This involves ensuring consistent profit and growing your status year by year through a strategic increase in revenue and intelligent cost reduction. "Once your collection is ready, the possibilities for launching are endless. With a well-planned launch, you can make a significant impact with monetary gain." Ting
The last few blogs discussed the crucial steps of choosing a specific genre and mission for your art with a well targeted dream customers. By doing so, you can develop a well-focused art collection that is meaningful, expansive, and cohesive for your target audience. So now what? Now, it’s time to embark on an exciting journey of marketing the collection you just created, giving it some great exposure, and selling it. This is your moment to shine and share your unique artistic vision. Understanding your audience is more than just a good idea; it's a strategic move that can significantly boost your business and increase your earnings. It's a game-changer!
It's common to see artists struggling with their art business. They paint without any plan; their portfolios are a mixture of genres and subjects. And their art sales are as random as they create them. The reason? They haven’t honed in on their mission or art genre, resulting in target audience ignorance. Listen, artist, if you’re trying to cater to everyone’s taste, you’re likely to end up pleasing no one. But if you focus on a specific audience with a chosen art genre and mission your art sales will be far more effective. By doing so, you can cater to their needs, preferences, and tastes. Have you ever felt stuck in a creative block or noticed that your energy isn’t flowing with joy? If you’ve been in this uninspired space for some time, it’s essential to be proactive about finding a solution, as it may be a sign of misalignment.
Hello artist, let's discuss your creative energy today and how you can tap into it quickly and abundantly. As someone who creates spiritual art, I know how important it is to align my energies with my work. I know art and spiritualism are inseparable companions. The wellspring of our creative energy is our soul’s quest to express beauty or fulfill a mission. Regardless of our individual beliefs, whether rooted in faith, spirituality, or any other creed, an undeniable divine energy guides and empowers our artistic manifestations. Through this energy, we find healing and discover profound answers within our creative practice, which is a transformative journey that extends beyond the realms of art. |
