“But, Ting, I’m not good at business, I am an artist!” I cringed whenever I hear this because that’s bogus! Why Artists Make Unbeatable Entrepreneurs. As an artrepreneur, I know artists make great entrepreneurs. We have strong intuition, so we naturally have a sixth sense of things. Artists are creative, which means we can solve problems with innovative ideas, and we are naturally good at sales because we are sensitive, and relate well with people. Yes, we may be introverts, but don’t let that be your downfall. We have to rise above that because we are courageous artists that are capable of doing hard things. So don’t sell yourself short and know this, if you apply your knowledge and energy to nourishing your intuition, you will be an unbeatable entrepreneur! There are 3 Types of Intuitions to Tap into.
Did you know you have three types of intuition? Social, directional, and informational? All three combined will give you a winning formula to excel in your art business. All you have to do is apply yourself and things will happen, maybe not immediately but with patience and hard work it will transpire to success. Here are the three intuitions we can tap into and what they all mean: Social Intuition. Having social intuition is very helpful with sales. It allows you to quickly access your situation at an art venue and feel the vibe of your audience. This way, you will know who to target, what to say and how to say it so that you can make a connection and create a rapport with your potential clients. Directional Intuition. Having directional intuition is when you trust your gut instinct in making quick decisions by analyzing a situation or data. This intuition is great to tap into if you have to make assessments quickly and finalize the decision in a business situation. As creators, we also use this part of our intuition most frequently. We analyze our creative projects by trusting our gut instinct. Informational Intuition. And informational intuition is when you have had experiences with a situation, your gut feeling will tell you exactly how to act based on what you have learned. This attribution is helpful for artists because it helps us to find solutions in our project making or business transaction. Enhance your Intuitive Power. Learning how to tap into all three dimensions of your creative intuition will help you become a better artist and entrepreneur. I use these intuitions regularly in my production and business dealing. Honing and mastering each one makes me a competent business person and a confident artist. Being a successful artist and business person takes a lot of creativity. Let’s nurture your strength, enhance your attributes and enjoy the process. Sales can be done tastefully without compromising your integrity. Some artists may think that they are incapable of business, but it is quite the opposite because it takes a creative mind to operate a sustainable art business. How do you Nourish your Intuition? Having a Strong Intuition is a Must for the Art Business. My social intuition comes from having a deep understanding of people. It is easier to have an intuitive connection with someone that you know than with a stranger. But you can develop a stronger sense of the latter by being observant and converse. Doing this, you can deepen your connection and build a meaningful relationship. The key here is to open your heart, be genuine, listen, and cultivate. If you do this practice, your art sales will improve tremendously. When I paint, I make decisions spontaneously and quickly. My color forecast and compositions are planned out by listening to my directional and informational intuition. If you are an indecisive person, you can strengthen that by working in solitude and trusting your instinct by making swift decisions. Trusting yourself is the core for nourishing this part of your intuitive brain. If you coupled your self-trust with frequent art practice, your intuition and confidence will improve. Enjoy your prowess, artists trust your creative mind and let your intuition be the master of your decision-making in your art business and creations. I have faith in you to be a great entrepreneur! With Creative Joy, Ting
