Hi Artist, I want to share this message with you today because I want you to trust your talent and let it lead you to freedom.
Anyone familiar with me knows that I am a nomad; thirty moves qualified me as one. I love traveling, moving, setting up new homes and galleries. It sounds crazy, but not for me. Now that I have accomplished what I wanted, I look back at my career and realize that none of those moves would have been possible if I didn’t own my art business. Incase we haven't met, here's a little bit about me I am Ting, an artist, and art business coach; I help artists of all levels market their art and grow their business to live a creative life with time and money freedom. I have been selling my art for 20 years in various galleries and venues. For the past 13 years, My husband, Paul, and I have operated our award-winning gallery. Our creative business afforded us a comfortable living and many memorable travel adventures.

I googled the word Sale, nowhere does it say it is a dirty word. On the other hand, it says "the exchange of a commodity for money; the action of selling something." So why do artists have such a problem with it?
Hey fellow artist, I know so many artists have such a hard time selling their talents. Most creatives want to paint, draw, and create with no intention to sell, which is fine if you do it as a hobby, but it is a different story if you want to do it as a business. Unless you have the privilege to hire an art agent to do the selling for you, and by the time you pay for the service, you won't be turning a profit. Hi Artist, No matter how lovely your art is, it doesn't sell itself.
Talent is not everything; as a matter of fact, it is just 25% vital to owning an art business that you love. I am sorry to tell you this but talent is not enough. All artists, including me, would love to create art all day long, but what happens when your studio is filling up to the brim with artwork that hasn't sold. Uh Oh! Well, that poses a problem, doesn't it? How will you let your talent support you if you don't sell? I am talking about making enough sales to afford a comfortable living, with a lovely home and vacations to boot. I know none of us wants to own an art business and become the myth of a starving artist. Hi artists, In my last week's blog, I talked about creating a sellable art collection to dreaming of owning a successful art business with a better plan and the right mindset to support your goal. If you haven't read it yet, here is the link.
This week I want to ask you some serious questions to continue this journey of dreaming of having a business and life you would love. |
