Hi artists, Art is about individualism, and nothing is worse than not having a distinctive style. As an artist, you need to develop your unique voice, something that stands out which separates you from all your peers. Creating your art style is not something that you can read about because it is about self-exploration, but you can invent individualism by observing your art. Below, I have created a small exercise to help you discover your unique voice in your art, and hopefully, you can start developing your style. #1. What is unique about your art? Take ten pieces of your art, line them up side by side. Now pick out one to three styles that they all have in common, write down what they are. Look at the linework, paint strokes, colors, compositions, texture, glazes, or the story that it tells.
#2. When someone likes your art, what are the words that they use to describe it? Can you use their descriptions and create more of that? #3. When you have found some common grounds that appear in the majority of your paintings, establish them as your signature style. You do this by experimenting and making them better and uniquely yours. #4. Once you have refined your uniqueness, put that special thumbprint on every single piece of art that you create. Not before long, your art will have a well established style and no one will mistake your art for someone else’s. And that is a WIN! I will show you how I develop my own unique style in this Blog Post. With Creative Joy, Ting
